The city of Onitsha came alive as the much-anticipated Oba Ji Festival 3.0 held at the prestigious Gathering Event Center. This year’s edition carried the powerful theme “Nni Na Ogodo”. It was a reminder of the deep bond between food (Nni) and attire (Ogodo) in the cultural identity of the Igbo people.
From electrifying dance troupes to colorful masquerade displays, the festival once again proved why it remains the biggest independent cultural festival in the South East.
Dignitaries and Special Guests
The glamour of Oba Ji Festival 3.0 was matched by the caliber of leaders and traditional figures present. Among them was Comrade Don Onyenji, the Anambra State Commissioner of Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism. Representing the revered Obi of Onitsha was Chief Obiora Nnagozie Etukokwu, the Uboh Negbasele of Onitsha.
Adding royal splendor to the gathering was HRH Onyebuchi Okonkwo, the Omu of Obio. Their presence underscored the importance of preserving and celebrating the cultural heritage of our people.
Sponsors Who Made It Happen
The success of Oba Ji Festival 3.0 would not have been possible without the generous support of its sponsors. Sterling Bank, Tiger Foods Limited, Ifedimma Wigs, Born To Excel Gadgets, and Senatorch Limited all played a key role in making the event memorable. Their partnership highlighted the growing recognition of the festival as a hub for culture, creativity, and community impact.
More Than a Festival
While the performances, music, and cultural exhibitions thrilled the audience, the theme “Nni Na Ogodo” stood tall as a cultural message. It was a call to remember that food sustains us, attire dignifies us, and together they symbolize the essence of Igbo identity.
Oba Ji Festival 3.0 was not just about entertainment — it was about grounding young people and communities in values that will carry our heritage into the future.
Looking Ahead
Oba Ji Festival is a registered trademark under the Oliona Foundation for Creatives, and each edition keeps raising the bar. With the resounding success of Oba Ji Festival 3.0, anticipation is already building for what Oba Ji Festival 4.0 will bring.
One thing is certain: as long as there is food (Nni), attire (Ogodo), and culture, the legacy of Oba Ji will continue to shine across generations.
