Background
Ani Jeremiah Chukwuebuka, popularly known by his stage name Jeriq, was born on May 6, 1999.
He grew up on the streets of Nkpor where he had an unusually street-oriented childhood that is felt in his music, which has attracted a few detractors who feel his art encourages internet fraud but has also won him lots of love from young people.
Jeriq’s Music career
Jeriq is an Enugu born rapper that predominantly raps with Igbo. The renowned trap king of the East.
He made his official debut with the viral hood song “Iyoo” in 2015. In 2018, he signed a record deal with Janded Music Empire with whom he dropped “Last Last” featuring Quincy.
He dropped successful singles like Paper, Update, and Hussle O’Clock that made him a sensation on Audiomack, an audience he has since grown to 185,000 followers amassing a whooping 46.4 million plays!
His debut EP, Hood Boy Dreams, cemented his place as one of the best rappers from the East, released in 2020 featuring songs like No Cap, Dreams, and Remember, the latter he collaborated with Phyno to do its remix.
Last year, Jeriq dropped a 5 track EP titled “East and West” with DMW Dremo in a bid to penetrate the Lagos market which was fairly a success.
He has since collaborated with A list artistes from the East like Phyno, Zoro, Nuno Zigi, Quincy, Tidinz and more recently with Flavour for his latest album leading single “Oluoma”
Jeriq’s Album Billion Dollar Dream
His debut album, Billion Dollar Dream peaked at number one on Audiomack and Apple music usurping Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.
Jeriq is currently an independent artiste signed to his own record label, Iyoo Cartel which also have a clothing line.
